All Access Creighton Basketball Practice
4-Pack DVD by Greg McDermott

“I’ve been asked what I was looking for in a head coach. As a first priority, I wanted a head coach with documented success as a head coach, at the Division I level, with experience at the Division I level at the level at which we aspire to compete. That’s to be a nationally relevant program in men’s basketball.

“I wanted someone who understood Creighton, who understood the Missouri Valley Conference, who understood the Midwest, and who understood what it was to be the head coach of a major college basketball program in this country.

“I wanted someone with great passion for the game. Great intelligence in teaching the game, and great character. And great character was of critical importance to me.

“I wanted someone who was a great family man, and understood the emotions that these young men and their parents feel. I know how much Greg loves his wife, Theresa, and his kids, Nick, Doug and Sydney, and that was very important to me.
“I wanted someone who was a great teacher and who had demonstrated the ability to develop players individually or as a group.

“And I am confident as you get to know coach Greg McDermott, you will see that he is an absolutely perfect fit for that vision.”
Creighton Director of Athletics Bruce Rasmussen

Practice 1:
Get a first-hand look at over 20 sets that deliver a quick hitting strike. You will learn all the counters and options off of Creighton's Blitz package plus a few baseline out of bounds sets you can put right into your offensive playbook.
Once you finish his detailed set play guide, you will learn how to defend various actions within their set play package. Your offense will become unstoppable as your players develop the necessary IQ to counter what the defense throws their way.

Practice 2:
In the afternoon session, Coach McDermott demonstrates his knowledge on the defensive end of the floor by providing you with detailed drills the Jays use to build their defensive scheme. These drills will challenge your players to pay attention to detail and mentally focus during every minute on the floor.
He uses a competitive 5v5 quarter court drill to incorporate defensive build up and execution on the offensive end. Challenge your players to dig deep on the defensive end to get the important stop you need to win a game.

Practice 3:
For the bulk of this first practice of Day 2, Coach McDermott breaks out into station work where he demonstrates how to defend the flare screen, post to post cross screen, back screen from the wings, and ball screen action from the wing. He uses the Superman Closeout Drill to teach effective closeouts from the help side position and create repeatable habits for defenders.

Practice 4:
McDermott puts everything together in this final all access practice session. He incorporates competitive 5v5 drills that incorporate the techniques learned in the previous sessions. You will see a comprehensive drill called Continuous Sets where your players will have to learn game flow, communication, and mental toughness as they are put through half court offense, transition, half court defense and back again in a game setting.

Drill after drill is all about competing to make you and your team better. You can sense the players enjoying the opportunity to showcase their talents and opportunities to get better. This all access practice is ideal for any high school coach looking to improve their defensive philosophy and learn new offensive sets that will raise the basketball IQ of their team.

About the Author: Coach Greg McDermott

Greg McDermott: All Access Creighton Basketball Practice 4-Pack DVD by Greg McDermott
Graduating student-athletes, record win totals, sold-out crowds, an MVC tournament title, postseason success and an All-American son are part of the legacy that Coach Greg McDermott has created in his first two seasons on The Hilltop.

Named the 16th head coach in Creighton men’s basketball history on April 27, 2010, McDermott has gone 52-22 in his first two seasons, while returning the program to the national rankings with an up-tempo style of play that has fans turning out in record numbers.

Last season, Creighton tied a school record with 29 wins and reached the third round of the NCAA Tournament, while establishing a program record with 2,772 points. The team spent 16 weeks ranked in the top-25, and earned its inaugural First-Team AP All-American in program history when Greg’s son, Doug, was honored following a record-setting season.  Doug was the first sophomore in league history named MVC Player of the Year, setting a school record with 801 points while also leading the nation with 307 field goals.

Creighton finished the year ranked No. 19 by the AP, and also ranked sixth nationally with an average home attendance of 16,665.
McDermott’s first year in Omaha was also a success. He led Creighton to a 23-16 record in his first campaign, as the Jays won a school-record four postseason games, advancing to the CBI finals.

Doug McDermott swept MVC Freshman and Newcomer of the Year awards while becoming the first freshman since 1952 to be named First-Team All-MVC. Point guard Antoine Young was named Second-Team All-Valley and also earned a spot on the MVC’s Most-Improved Team.

Additionally, Gregory Echenique was named to the MVC All-Newcomer and All-Defensive Teams, while Jahenns Manigat landed an All-Freshman Team spot alongside Doug McDermott.

Four members of his first team (Kaleb Korver, Matthew Dorwart, Ross Ferrarini and Derek Sebastian) were honored for their work in the classroom, while the accolades also piled up for their performance on the court. Dorwart, Ferrarini, Sebastian and Taylor Stormberg earned that accolade in 2011-12 as well.

A native of Cascade, Iowa, McDermott owns a 201-153 record in 11 seasons on the Division I sidelines. He has a 332-217 career mark in 18 seasons as a head coach, which includes six trips to the NCAA Tournament.

Before coming to Creighton, McDermott had spent the previous four seasons as head coach at Iowa State.
McDermott won 59 games at Iowa State, where his teams consistently ranked in the upper half of the Big 12 in scoring defense and three-point shooting. He coached five players who earned all-conference recognition, including Craig Brackins, who was the first Cyclone since 2001 to earn All-Big 12 First-Team honors in 2009. He also coached Mike Taylor, who was a second-round pick in the 2008 NBA Draft and played for the Los Angeles Clippers in 2008-09.

McDermott’s 2008-09 squad broke school records in three-pointers made (236) and fewest turnover average (12.1 tpg.) in a season. His 2009-10 club saw preseason Wooden Award nominee Brackins finish as the Big 12’s only player to rank in the top-10 in conference scoring, rebounding and blocks. Additionally, Marquis Gilstrap was an honorable-mention All-Big 12 pick after being the only player in the conference to average a double-double in conference play (15.3 ppg., 10.3 rpg.).

McDermott’s meteoric rise in the head coaching ranks occurred in his five seasons as the head coach at his alma mater, Northern Iowa. After taking over a program that had not posted a winning season since 1997, McDermott’s recipe for success launched the UNI program into the national spotlight. In his third season with the Panthers, McDermott led UNI to the 2004 Missouri Valley Conference Tournament title and its second NCAA Tournament appearance in school history while recording a 21-10 mark.

He backed up UNI’s 2004 season with yet another NCAA Tournament bid in 2005, this time earning the Panthers’ first at-large berth with a No. 11 seed. The Panthers tallied a 21-11 record and took No. 6 seed Wisconsin to the wire, falling 57-52. The 2006 UNI season was just as successful, as McDermott led the Panthers to their first Associated Press top-25 ranking while tying a then-school record with 23 wins. UNI defeated five NCAA Tournament teams (Iowa, LSU, Wichita State, Southern Illinois and Bucknell) en route to its third consecutive NCAA Tournament appearance with a No. 10 seed. McDermott compiled a 90-63 record at UNI.

McDermott has proven to be a top-notch recruiter and a sound tactician. He has coached 28 players who have earned some sort of conference award in his 11 years as a Division I coach, including four players who earned First-Team All-MVC honors six times Doug McDermott, David Gruber, Ben Jacobson, Grant Stout) and one first-team all-Big 12 pick (Brackins).

McDermott received his first head coaching job at Wayne State (Neb.) from 1994-2000. He led the Wildcats to four-straight 20-win seasons, one Northern Sun Conference title and a pair of NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 berth in 2000. He won 116 games in his six years with the Wildcats while earning conference coach of the year honors in 2000.

He left Wayne State to take over the coaching duties at Division II North Dakota State for one season (2000-01) before heading to Cedar Falls. The Bison finished 15-11 overall and defeated three top-25 opponents on the road in 2001.

McDermott began his coaching career as an assistant at the University of North Dakota from 1989-94. During his tenure, the Fighting Sioux made five consecutive NCAA Division II Tournament appearances, were ranked No. 1 in the final 1991 NCAA poll and won two North Central Conference crowns. He was also a part of two North Central Region Championships and compiled a 126-37 record in his six seasons.

A fourth-team all-state center for Cascade High School in 1983, McDermott accepted UNI head coach Jim Berry’s scholarship offer to play for the Panthers. He played three seasons for Berry and two years for Eldon Miller at UNI, recording 1,033 career points to rank on UNI’s top-25 scoring chart. As a junior, he ranked 16th nationally in field-goal percentage (58.7 percent) and shot 60.3 percent from the field as a senior. The 6-foot-8 center was named second-team all-conference as a junior and was a team co-captain as a senior. He received his B.A. degree from Northern Iowa in 1988. He played one season professionally in Switzerland after graduation before beginning his coaching career.

McDermott and his wife, Theresa, have three children: Nick (23), Doug (20) and Sydney (12). Doug is a junior on this year’s Creighton basketball team.

"... Coach Schmidt is a great recruiter who has had a tremendous amount of success in the Midwest and has even branched out to find players in the South. He has graduated players to high-major conferences including the Big Ten, Big East, SEC and ACC. Many of his players have found success at the mid-major level over the years including in the MAC.

During his career he has coached 15 All-Americans and three National Player of the Year Award winners. Sophomore John Taylor, a guard from the west side of Chicago, has a great chance to be his fourth.

I could tell you a lot of stories that would outline the above mentioned blueprint in words, knowing that the mark of a great coach is more than just about wins and losses; but, I also know that coaching at a high level is a bottom-line business and winning championships is the difference between good and great.

Coach Schmidt is married to the game. ..."

Make defense the staple of your program by developing an intense and disruptive mindset within your players.

Legendary Junior College Coach Steve Schmidt is a Hall of Fame coach with four NJCAA National Championships. The common denominator throughout all of his success has been his defensive philosophy. Schmidt knows what works when it comes to team defense. In this video you will discover his proven system for teaching defense that is fundamental and fun.

Coach Schmidt starts at the foundation of any defense and demonstrates three variations of the 1-on-1 Zig-Zag Drill. Each zig-zag combination will teaches you how to disrupt the offense and create a mentality of being prepared to guard anyone on the floor.

As you watch Schmidt's on-court demonstrators in a 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 setting, you will see how he teaches his players to avoid moving their heads on defense as they guard, how to properly defend backdoor cuts, how to hedge a screen, be in help position, and be in denial position creating havoc with your opponent's offensive sets.

Please, Refresh the Page if You Can't watch the Preview, photographs or the Videos !

Coach Schmidt uses the Shell Drill to teach defensive positioning in the half court setting. Once your players have mastered the half court shell drill, Schmidt takes your through their full court pressing situation where your players can incorporate their 1-on-1 techniques that lead into a half court man to man situations.

Create defensive toughness at each position by running contact drills that also serve as conditioning drills. Schmidt introduces competitive drills that will increase enthusiasm and simulate game-like energy levels. To make the drills more game-like, Schmidt shows you how to uniquely award points to the teams who execute the skills properly.

Maintaining defensive intensity has been the key to Schmidt's success. Now, Coach Schmidt shows you how to teach it, how to drill it, and how to get your team to buy in to it.

Inside this session Coach Schmidt takes your through 13 different drills that will help your players develop better ball handling, shooting, passing, and footwork drills.

Schmidt uses on-court demonstrations to take you through a ball handling routine that will effectively develop all your players into solid, confident ball handlers. Make your players a threat from anywhere on the floor by implementing this series of footwork and shooting drills. Watch as Schmidt teaches his players how to get to the rim quickly using only one dribble to attack the rim and their defender. Your players will learn how to incorporate jump stops, lay-ups, reverse lay-ups, and right/left footed combination shots that allow them to score on any defender in the paint.

Refine the skills your players need to take your team to the next level!

About Steve Schmidt

Steve Schmidt's Basketball Practice Drills 2-Pack DVD with Steve Schmidt

It takes a winner to be a winner, and no one has done it better than Steve Schmidt. In 21 seasons as head coach at Mott, Schmidt has compiled a record of success that is unparalleled at the college level. He is the winningest active coach in the nation at the NJCAA level, the winner of four National Championships (2003, 2007,2008 and 2012) and a member of the NJCAA Coaches Association Hall of Fame (2010) and the Greater Flint Area Sports Hall of Fame (2006).

His career coaching record at Mott is 573-124 and his record at the National Tournament is 27-4 - the all-time best record in the tournament's history.

In addition to the four national titles, Schmidt's teams have won 14 conference, nine state and eight regional titles. He has been named National Coach of the Year four times and has coached 16 players who have been recognized as NJCAA All-Americans.

Schmidt wins off the court as well. Throughout his career, Mott's program has set the standard for student-athlete accountability. Schmidt's no-excuse approach to athletics is founded upon the principle that to be a student-athlete is a privilege, one that requires all players to represent Mott Community College to the best of their ability.

In 2009, in honor of his many achievements at Mott, the gym at Ballenger Field House was dubbed The Steve Schmidt Gymnasium.

Robert Matthew "Bob" Hurley, Sr. (born July 3, 1947) is the basketball coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Hurley has amassed 23 state championships and more than 900 wins in 35 years as a coach, creating a national powerhouse despite substandard facilities and financial limitations.

Five of his teams have gone undefeated, including his 2007-08 team. On April 5, 2010, he was announced as the only coach to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame that year and only the third high-school coach in history to be so honored; he was formally inducted on August 13 of that year.

Hurley is the father of Bobby Hurley, a former All-American point guard at Duke, and Dan Hurley,  who was hired in February 2012 to coach the University of Rhode Island after two years of coaching at Wagner College and 9 years coaching at Newark's Saint Benedict's Preparatory School, also one of the top high school programs in the nation. Practice 1

During his first practice session, Coach Hurley's team runs through a dynamic warm-up that features passing and cutting drills using a weighted ball. This requires players to use their legs when they pass and requires an exaggerated form that helps refine technique and develop more snap on their passes.

Guards and post players then divide up to work on position-specific skills. Guards work on basic ball handling fundamentals, cutting around chairs for pick and roll practice, and shooting off of curls.

The post players run cross screens and flashes in the key, short corner work, and some 1-on-1 and 2-on-2 work.

Hurley uses 5-on-0 half court situations to guide you through out of bounds plays and half court sets such as Friar and Side. In this offense, any player without the ball is in motion. The practice closes with a 3-on-3 trapping drill designed to work both offensive and defensive skills.

Practice 2

Coach Hurley uses this session to build his players' defensive skill set. They start with a 2-on-1 drill in the half court that morphs into a help and recover drill, which is followed by a full court lay up drill working on conditioning and technique.

The team then splits into guard and post position work. The guards work on ball handling fundamentals and dribbling around cones simulating screens, feeding various cuts and getting their own shots off the dribble.

The posts work on denying post flashes and post entry passes with fronting, and rebounding drills. The team then works on close outs and block out technique for rebounding. Coach uses detailed instruction to teach his players how to properly box out and pursue every rebound.

Hurley shows 4-on-4 shell to get offensive repetition while his defense works on communication and defending screens.

Practice 3

This session is heavy on full court action in order to review all aspects of everything covered in the prior practices.

Coach Hurley concentrates on full court transition, conditioning, power moves to finish at the rim, and box out technique drills. As Hurley continues to prep his team for the upcoming scrimmage, he uses this practice to show you how they work to defeat a zone defense designed to slow down and stagnate any man-to-man offense. The offense is taught to utilize the high post as a means to collapse the zone, with the high post looking to immediately pass to a drifting wing player sinking below the zone for an open shot.

He demonstrates how to "Flood" the defense when they try to press in the full court. Seven defenders are instructed to execute a 1-3-2-1 press against his five-man press break "Flood" Offense. He demonstrates how to prepare before your first big contest with a detailed 5-on-5 scrimmage that has a high energy level and leaves your team feeling good about the work they put in during practice.

This DVD will add more than 25 proven fundamental skills and team development drills to your arsenal.

Robert Matthew "Bob" Hurley, Sr. (born July 3, 1947) is the basketball coach at St. Anthony High School in Jersey City, New Jersey. Hurley has amassed 26 state championships and more than 1000 wins in 39 years as a coach, creating a national powerhouse despite substandard facilities and financial limitations.

On February 2, 2011, Hurley became the 10th coach in high school history to win 1000 games. Five of his teams have gone undefeated, including his 2007-08 team. On April 5, 2010, he was announced as the only coach to be inducted into the Basketball Hall of Fame that year and only the third high-school coach in history to be so honored; he was formally inducted on August 13 of that year.

Hurley is the father of Bobby Hurley, a former All-American point guard at Duke, and Danny Hurley, who was hired in April 2010 to coach Wagner College after years of coaching at Newark's Saint Benedict's Preparatory School, also one of the top high school programs in the nation. Danny has since hired Bobby as an assistant at Wagner.

Hurley's undefeated 1989 team, which featured Jerry Walker, Hurley's son Bobby, Terry Dehere, and Rodrick Rhodes, was ranked first in the nation by USA Today. Three of the players on that team — Bobby Hurley, Dehere and Rhodes — were first round draft choices in the NBA draft. That team won New Jersey's first Tournament of Champions and amassed 50 straight victories in a two-year span. It is generally considered one of the best teams in New Jersey history.

Hurley's 2007-08 squad was also undefeated, finishing with 32 wins and no losses and ranked number one in the U.S. even though no starter is taller than 6'6". The '08 team, with six seniors accepting Division I basketball scholarships, also won Hurley's 10th Tournament of Champions, winning its state tournament games by an average of more than 27 points per game. The team also won St. Anthony's 25th state championship, more than any other school in U.S. history.

Hurley was the coach for 23 of those teams and an assistant coach on the other two. His teams are known for their speed, defensive intensity, and precise ball movement. He is known for his intense calls from the sideline to players during stoppages in play.

Larry Brown's multiple professional and collegiate coaching and playing stops have deeply intertwined him in the Kansas/UNC coaching trees. Brown's college basketball coach when he played at UNC, Dean Smith, was a player under legendary Kansas basketball coach Phog Allen, who in turn was coached at Kansas by James Naismith, the inventor of basketball.
Larry Brown then became head coach of Kansas himself and upon his departure was replaced by UNC alum Roy Williams, who later returned to coach at UNC. Current Kansas head coach Bill Self served as a graduate assistant under Brown at KU during the 1985–86 season which saw Kansas set a then-record for wins in a single season and the Jayhawks snapped a 12-year final four drought.

Also, current University of Kentucky head coach John Calipari was an assistant under Brown at Kansas. Former Kansas players Mark Turgeon and Tad Boyle, coaches of the University of Maryland, College Park and the University of Colorado at Boulder respectively, played for Brown at Kansas.

Danny Manning, who played for Brown at Kansas from 1984 to 1988, served as the Jayhawks' assistant coach under Self from 2007 to 2012 and is now the head coach at the University of Tulsa. Kevin Pritchard, the starting point guard on Kansas' 1988 NCAA Division I men's championship team with Manning and Brown, was coach/general manager of the ABA's Kansas City Knights as well as interim coach/general manager of the Portland Trail Blazers. He is the current director of player personnel with the Indiana Pacers.

Gregg Popovich also served as an assistant to Brown.

"... Kobe Bryant wanted to hear the Boston accent. He wanted to hear the wisdom of the street, he wanted to hear the wise-ass comments. He wanted to hear what "Sweetchuck" had to say.

'Sweetchuck' is Mike Procopio, he's 37 and he has worked with Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Caron Butler, as well as 75 other NBA players !
His advice is technical and specific to dozens of situations and the difference it made is impossible to quantify.

'He's my Jack Bauer,' said Bryant. 'He was my eyes and ears, so when I played basketball I'd use all the scouting reports and all the information.
And it was huge for me through my entire basketball playing career !.'

has worked with Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Caron Butler,
as well as 75 other NBA players;
Strategic Game Management Coach to Kobe Bryant
for the past two seasons (2 NBA Championships)

Having a mix of players in a workout setting can be a challenge. Mike Procopio shows you how to use 2-on-0 and 3-on-0 drills to develop the fundamentals that make players great and improve the flow of your team offense.

Using a maximum of three and four players per repetition, these drills are simple to learn and fast-moving. Each drill in this on-court presentation is designed to ingrain basketball's most important offensive concepts into your players: Spacing, timing, cutting, driving lanes, change of pace, and more. At the same time, players will also work on skills such as footwork, setting screens, posting up, using the right pass for each situation, reading the defense in pick and roll, and shooting.

You will be able to teach and correct essential techniques that will make your team more efficient, more dangerous, and smarter.

The drills in this DVD build on each other for specific offensive schemes like pick and roll, pick and pop, baseline cross screen, and dribble penetration and therefore adjust easily to your own strategy. This makes it impossible for defenses to focus on just one player and it teaches your players to take advantage of every situation, whether on or off the ball.

Use this DVD to quickly teach your players this season's set plays in an energetic way using Coach Procopio's breakdown drills.

Using the drills and concepts in this DVD will dramatically improve your players' individual and team skills and their basketball IQ.

Director of Basketball Operations for ATTACK Athletics in Chicago (IL);

as well as 75 other NBA players;
Strategic Game Management Coach to Kobe Bryant
for the past two seasons (2 NBA Championships)

Much like using shell defense to teach man-to-man defensive concepts, Mike Procopio demonstrates how you can develop an effective and smart offense using 3-on-0 and 4-on-0 shell drills. This extensive on-court demonstration contains drills for numerous offensive sets you can apply directly--or easily adapt--to your own philosophy and sets.

With each drill, Procopio begins by teaching the first scoring option and then building it out to cover all ensuing options. This makes it easy for your players to understand your team's offensive strategy and grow an individual repertoire of skills.

Beginning with Pin Down screens, your players will learn to immediately read the defense's actions and either score or hit the appropriate next option. Whether it's an open jump shot, a fade off the screen, backdoor action or a drive and kick, each option is demonstrated for you.

In addition to Pin Downs, Procopio covers Cross Screens, UCLA cuts, Horns, Wide Pin Downs, Transition Quick Hitters, Floppy, Zipper, and Side Pick and Rolls. Each of these principles is taught step-by-step and in 3-on-0 and 4-on-0 settings.

In transition, Procopio uses 2-on-0 player action to demonstrate how your players should feed the post, post up and how to cut once the ball has been entered into the post. He outlines three basic principles every post player should know, demonstrates every angle, screen, and cut your post players can make while posting up out of transition, and then demonstrates how to execute a pass, dribble motion, or attacking look while in the post.

Coach Procopio uses the popular pick and roll action that is widely used today and teaches you how to effectively move and interact coming off of the screen. He teaches your guards how to set up their man and run them into a screen coming off of the wing, and demonstrates such scoring options as a pick and pop, pick and roll, pick and skip, and pick and attack.

In all of these segments, Procopio goes through multiple ways to beat the defense. A constant emphasis in all drills is good footwork, hard cuts, movement off the pass, using the appropriate pass for the situation, coming off screens, reading the defense, taking angles, good positioning, change of pace and direction, and spacing on the court.

You can teach not only movements and plays, but improve your players' skill sets in the same drills.

With coach Procopio's breakdown drills and insight, your teams will be able to run multi-faceted offenses with a great understanding of the game.

Keep your players engaged as you teach them the foundations of your offense and defense.

In the last of this three-part series, Mike Procopio demonstrates how you can develop effective and savvy players using 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 drills.

Having developed the fundamentals of your offensive philosophy using 2-on-0, 3-on-0, and 4-on-0 drills in the Building Your Half Court Offense with Shell Drills DVD, this video implements those concepts into competitive offensive and defensive 3-on-3 and 4-on-4 drills. Using this system will allow your players to put up game shots at game spots and learn to defend, while you teach the terminology that you use at both ends of the court.

You'll see Pin Downs, Cross Screens, and Wide Pin Downs in controlled 3-on-3 mini scrimmages.

In the 4-on-4 drills, the focus is on the pick-and-roll and screen-the-screener actions. All the details covered in earlier DVDs are now expected to be executed correctly and players are held accountable for their mistakes. This is a great way to teach the fundamental understanding of 5-on-5 principles and movement.

Coach Procopio breaks down proper spacing when using 3-on-3 action to familiarize players with the attacking angles and cutting action of your offensive system. He demonstrates various cuts (pin down, cross-screen, and down screen) and uses a 3-on-0 breakdown to start implementing each action. This progresses into 3-on-3 sets where he outlines open shots at game spots.

Coach Procopio shows you how to incorporate popular NBA cutting actions Floppy and Zipper into your 3-on-0 breakdowns so your players learn how to correctly execute screens. Your post players will benefit greatly as he outlines all the scoring options for your post players. He goes into great detail on screening action in the 3-on-0 and 3-on-3 breakdowns so that your players can learn how to cut and move without the basketball while maintaining effective spacing.

Each drill has specific options and limitations that will still allow your players to be creative, while you can focus on implementing the details of both the offensive and the defensive side.

With coach Procopio's breakdown drills and insight, your teams will be able to run multi-faceted offenses with a great understanding of the game.

About Coach Mike Procopio

Basketball Individual and Team Development Series 3-Pack DVDs with Mike Procopio
Mike Procopio is in charge of all NBA, Pre-draft, and grassroots workouts for ATTACK Athletics.
Mike has worked with players such as Kobe Bryant, Dwyane Wade, Kevin Durant, Devin Harris, Paul Pierce, Rajon Rondo, Tracy McGrady, Gilbert Arenas, Mike Finley, and over 150 other NBA players.
Mike is renowned for his work serving as Kobe Bryant's Strategic Game Management Coach (see below) in the 2009 and 2010 playoffs.
He also served as an assistant coach for the Maine Red Claws of the NBA Development League.

"... Kobe Bryant wanted to hear the Boston accent. He wanted to hear the wisdom of the street, he wanted to hear the wise-ass comments. He wanted to hear what "Sweetchuck" had to say.

Throughout the past season and a half, Bryant was leaning on the self-taught expertise of a white bald guy who is no taller than 5-foot-7 and no thinner than 220 pounds. Sweetchuck would analyze every upcoming game for Bryant and he would do so without reverence.

'Sweetchuck' is Mike Procopio and he's 37. When he was growing up in Revere, Mass., a rough seaside town near the Boston airport, he was nicknamed after the nerdish character Carl Sweetchuck who was tormented by Bobcat Goldthwait in the Police Academy movies. "My friends used to always beat the crap out of me,'' he said. "I thought the nickname was quarantined at the city limits."

Six years ago, Sweetchuck quit his job as a scout for the Celtics to become a full-time associate of Tim Grover at ATTACK Athletics, the 65,000-square foot training center for NBA players in Chicago. Yet, Sweetchuck continues to bust his former employers and colleagues.

His advice is technical and specific to dozens of situations and the difference it made is impossible to quantify.
'He's my Jack Bauer,' said Bryant. 'He was my eyes and ears, so when I played the game I'd use all the scouting reports and all the information. And it was huge
for me.' ..." Ian Thomsen
