Basketball Off-ball Screen ( Video )

Off-ball Screen:
_1._ A screen set on a basketball (external link) defender guarding an offensive player who doesn't have the ball. Also called a 'player screen'.

_2._ 'Off the ball screen', practiced in a closed situation. In threes players set up in a triangle. The player at the top passes the ball in either direction then sets the screen on the opposite side to where they have just played their pass.

As a shooter, a player must be able to use off-ball screens. If used correctly, they are essentially impossible to guard. However, they take a lot of knowledge, attention to detail, and practice in order to master.
