Fast Break

Fast Break:
A basketball (external link) play in which a team gains possession - through a steal or a defensive rebound - and then pushes the ball downcourt quickly with an outlet pass toward midcourt to the waiting teammates, hoping to get a good shot off before the other team has a chance to get back and set up on defense.

Usually, a fast break entails that the offense outnumbers the defense by at least a one-man advantage.

Also called: run-and-shoot offense or run-and-gun offense.

See the interpretation for Fast Break analysis at eBA System Area (external link).
